Handmade Jacob-Style Double Sheepskin Rug - Lovingly crafted with care in our Somerset Workshop
Every so often, we come across something truly special — and this rug is just that. During a recent visit to our South West tannery, we were shown these beautifully unique sheepskins, dyed by hand to mimic the natural markings of the much-loved Jacob sheep breed. While true Jacob sheepskins are now becoming incredibly rare, these cleverly finished hides offer a similar rustic charm, with warm chocolate-brown patches on a soft ivory base.
Each rug has been carefully hand-cut, matched, and stitched here in our Somerset workshop — slowly and with great attention to detail, as we do with all our pieces. It’s this small-batch approach that allows us to create rugs that are not only visually striking but also full of character and warmth. We make these the traditional way: by hand, by eye, and never in a rush.
These double sheepskin rugs are wonderfully versatile — perfect draped over stone or wooden floors, across the end of a bed, or even over a bench outdoors on cooler evenings. Thick, soft and gloriously cosy underfoot, they bring a sense of rustic luxury to any space.
Each one measures approximately 175–200cm in length and 50–60cm in width, with luxurious soft fleece and that distinctive Jacob-style colouring.
